Technology Tips, Tricks, Hacks, News And Reviews.
Well Fedora Core 5 has hit the download servers and is ready for installation. I installed FC5 on 2 seperate computers and one install went extremely smoothly while the other one, with an Nvidia video card and Nvidia motherboard chipset, was thoroughly a pain to get working. There was enough glitches in the second install, that I can say if you have a Nvidia card or a motherboard with the Nvidia nForce chipset, you should look elsewhere for a linux o.s. or be prepared to do a fair amount of tweaking. Some of the software that Fedora 5 comes with are :
Gnome 2.14
KDE 3.5.1
OpenOffice 2.0.2
Firefox 1.5.0.1
Thunderbird 1.5
Gaim 1.5
Amarok 1.4.beta1
Banshee 0.10.8
Kaffeine 0.7.1
Gimp 2.2.10
K3B 0.12.10
Although earlier I mentioned that I might hold off until next week, I have some time spare given that I only have one exam rather than two (sigh of relief), so before I start, I'll give you the specifications of the machine
