NVIDIA’s been on a roll this week with new product announcements. Yesterday brought new nForce4 Intel Edition chipsets and today brings a new graphics chip. Seven months after the initial launch of the GeForce 7800GTX NVIDIA’s starting to bring GeForce 7 technology down to the entry-level market. Today’s launch brings the latest addition to the GeForce 7 series lineup—the 7300GS.
The new 7300GS is NVIDIA’s latest low-end graphics offering filling the gap between the 6200TC and 6600 at a $99 price point to compete against ATI’s X1300. It is the first NVIDIA GPU to be fabricated on a 90nm process—resulting in lower power consumption and cooler temperatures. As far as pixel pipelines go the 7300GS has 4 pixel pipelines like the current 6200TC but half that of a 6600. The 7300GS is also equipped with three vertex shaders like the 6200TC. As with all current and last generation NVIDIA products there is full support for DirectX 9 and Shader Model 3.0. TurboCache technology also makes a return on the 7300GS.
